Not one to be daunted by Governor Gavin Newsom’s 3-week mandatory shutdown of all California restaurants, Sir Bruno Serato intends to keep his Anaheim White House in operation — at least partially — so he can serve those adversely impacted by COVID-19. The chef/restaurateur/humanitarian is organizing a food distribution program for the next three Mondays (Dec 14, 21 & 28) from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. Families struggling to put food on their tables are encouraged to abide by social distancing rules and simply get their vehicles in line, remain in their cars at all times and pop their trunks so that staff can load it with groceries. Food will be disbursed on a first-come, first-serve basis while supplies last.

“When we learned about the lockdown, I thought, ‘Why not turn lemons into lemonade?’” says Serato. “Since the mandate restricts us from opening our doors for another 3 weeks, we decided to change things up and serve those who have been hit hardest by COVID-19. So many families are in dire straits both emotionally and financially and with time running out on the government approving the next stimulus package, the need is greater now than ever.”

Situated in a historic national landmark mansion dating to 1909, Anaheim White House offers a quixotic menu of northern Italian fare including prime grade steaks and fresh seafood, extensive wine list, unparalleled service and an elegant setting to create an extraordinary dining experience. With its close proximity to Disneyland, the dining establishment has become a favorite destination for tourists, locals and dignitaries visiting the park. Among the luminaries from the worlds of entertainment, sports and politics are Madonna, Sidney Portier, Andrea Bocelli, Gwen Stefani, Wolfgang Puck, Derek Jeter, Oscar de la Hoya, President Jimmy Carter, President George W. Bush and the Crown Prince of Belgium.

Serato is also the founder of Caterina’s Club, a nonprofit that feeds hungry children, finds permanent housing for families in need and trains at-risk youth for careers in the hospitality industry. For his work, he has earned international publicity including profiles in People Magazine and has appeared on countless TV news and talk shows including “The Drew Barrymore Show,” “Access Hollywood,” “The Doctors” “CBS Evening News” and “NBC Nightly News.” Among his many honors: CNN Hero, knighted by the Italian government, knighted by the House of Savoy, Ellis Island Medal of Honor, papal blessing from Pope Francis, humanitarian award on the steps of the U.S. Capitol, and numerous proclamations, Man of the Year awards and other forms of recognition — all of which he accepts to generate public awareness of Caterina’s Club.
