ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Oct. 21, 2024 - PRLog -- In a remarkable display of combined military cooperation, the United States and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia recently concluded the third iteration of the Red Sands Counter-Unmanned Aerial System (Counter-UAS) Hard Kill exercise. The largest exercise of its kind to date, Riggo Production Studio was chosen to film the event and create a documentary short while also providing a dynamic live audio-visual show featuring each of the 15 systems demonstrated during the live fire event.
US ARCENT, "This iteration of RED SANDS includes training, operational demonstrations, and the testing of 15 different systems employing various kinetic and non-kinetic techniques to destroy and disable unmanned aerial systems (UAS), and to counter the ever-growing threat of unmanned aerial systems (UAS). This is the third iteration of the annual exercise."
Held at the Red Sands Integrated Experimentation Center, this three-week demonstration and assessment showcased cutting-edge technologies designed to counter the growing threat posed by lethal and loitering unmanned aerial systems. Production spanned 7 months with nearly 100 production meetings all leading up to the two weeks of rehearsals and first filming at Fort Drum New York before the production team landed in Saudi Arabia for the final weeks of production.

Annapolis-based Riggo Production Studio played a pivotal role in documenting the Red Sands event and planning the show flow of the live event which was broadcast to military leadership and industry professionals on site via IMAG LED Walls flown in from the United States. Capturing History:
Riggo camera person Caitlyn Dorrer achieved a significant milestone by capturing live footage of the first successful hard kill of a small UAS using a Hellfire missile fired from an AH-64 Apache. This groundbreaking moment was witnessed by both the U.S. Army and the Saudi Royal Armed Forces.
Red Sands Integrated Experimentation Center:
The exercise took place at the Red Sands Integrated Experimentation
Center, a strategic location in Saudi Arabia. Red Sands is held twice each year, providing a unique opportunity for military forces to test and refine their counter-UAS procedures.
Planning and Execution of the Filming Schedule:
Red Sands 23-2, the previous year's exercise, focused on strengthening military ties between the U.S. and Saudi Arabia. At Red Sands 2024, Riggo Production Studio worked closely, directed by Troika Solutions, with both US Military Public Affairs, ARCENT, DEVCOM and the Saudi Arabian Armed Forces showcasing networked lethality to produce the live portion of the show coverage. This collaboration ensured proper coverage of not just US Army systems but also the Saudi Arabian Armed Forces systems too.
