Fibroid Institute Texas is proud to renew its partnership as a sponsor and the official women’s health partner for the Texas Elite Spartans women’s tackle football team for the 2026 season. The team will feature Dr. Suzanne Slonim at their Women’s Health Game Day event.

-- Dallas, Texas (March 2026): Fibroid Institute Texas is proud to renew its ongoing partnership as the official women’s health partner for the Texas Elite Spartans women’s tackle football team for the 2026 season. The Spartans, five-time champions of the Women’s National Football Conference, have partnered with Fibroid Institute since last season and announced the partnership renewal on their website.
In addition to spotlighting women’s health throughout the 2026 season, the Spartans will host Women’s Health Game Day at the season opener against the Mississippi Panthers, slated for March 28, 2026 at their home field, UTA Maverick Stadium. The event will feature Medical Director and Founder of Fibroid Institute Texas, Dr. Suzanne Slonim, with a goal to ensure that fibroid awareness and women’s health education remain front and center for fans, families, and the community.
“We are proud to return as the Women’s Health sponsor for the Texas Elite Spartans for a second year,” Dr. Slonim said. “These athletes embody strength, resilience, and teamwork—values we share deeply at the Fibroid Institute. Supporting women who push boundaries on and off the field is a natural extension of our commitment to women’s health and empowerment.”
The Texas Elite Spartans said in a team announcement that the entire organization is grateful for a partner that believes in informed women, healthy communities, and leadership that extends far beyond the game.
“Our team sees itself as a critical voice for women in Texas and beyond, and this partnership allows us to pair elite sports with real education, access, and impact,” head coach Odessa “OJ” Jenkins said.
Fibroid Institute and Texas Elite Spartans Partnership Impact
Uterine fibroids are non-cancerous growths in the uterus that affect 70-80% of all women, usually between ages 30 and 50. While not life-threatening, they can cause significant symptoms like severe pelvic pain, heavy periods, bloating, frequent urination, back pain, and reproductive issues such as infertility or miscarriage. Research shows that an estimated 171 million women worldwide are affected by fibroids, yet many remain unaware they have them. They also lack access to accurate information or care and potentially dismiss their symptoms as simply part of being a woman.
Dr. Suzanne Slonim and Dr. Cathryn Shaw of Fibroid Institute are board-certified interventional radiologists trained to perform minimally invasive procedures under X-ray guidance, specifically, Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE). They are among only 12% in their highly specialized field who are women. By performing UFE in-clinic, these Dallas fibroid doctors are fulfilling their passion to help women live symptom-free without major surgery while raising awareness of this critical women’s health issue.
As a result of that commitment, Dr. Slonim and Dr. Shaw were recently recognized by D Magazine’s Best Doctors in Dallas. Dr. Slonim also played a key role in helping Texas become one of only 10 states to recognize July as Uterine Fibroid Awareness Month. The Fibroid Institute Texas medical team has completed over 40,000 interventional radiology procedures, helping thousands of women become fibroid-free through minimally invasive, non-surgical treatments.
A partnership with the Texas Elite Spartans continues that mission, and last year’s results were groundbreaking. According to the Spartans, Fibroid Institute’s investment enabled them to do the following in 2025:
• Dedicated fibroid education campaigns across Spartans digital platforms, which reached over 700,000 people
• Direct patient referrals connecting women to fibroid care and treatment resources
• A highly successful Women’s Health Game Day, where over 800 attendees received fibroid education, resources, and health information, further normalizing conversations about fibroids and creating clear pathways to treatment.
About Fibroid Institute Texas
Medical Director Dr. Suzanne Slonim founded Fibroid Institute in 2016 out of concern over the high number of surgeries used to treat uterine fibroids. Together, Drs. Slonim and Shaw—along with the entire Fibroid Institute team—are committed to expanding access to a minimally invasive treatment known as Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE) and educating women about the full range of fibroid treatment options.
Fibroid Institute is dedicated to prioritizing patient care and helping reduce healthcare costs associated with fibroid treatment. Uterine Fibroids Embolization (UFE) is an outpatient procedure that eliminates the need for a hospital stay, making it more cost effective than traditional surgeries like hysterectomy. Patients can go home the same day. Covered by most insurance plans, UFE offers a much shorter recovery time than traditional surgery. The success rate for the UFE procedure is over 90%.
With a growing national demand for non-surgical fibroid treatments, patients from across the country visit the Institute’s Houston and Dallas fibroid clinics. Fibroid Institute has positioned itself as the only local practice dedicated solely to treating fibroids and one of only a few across the country.
