Florida SEO Strategist Urges Experts to Ditch the “Smoke and Mirrors” and Focus on Real, Client-Centered Results

SEO expert and entrepreneur Anthony Gallo, founder of Florida SEO Services and Soflo Real Estate Network, is calling for a major cultural shift within the digital marketing world. Gallo is encouraging SEO professionals to share their strategies, results, and experiences more openly—and stop hiding behind the ever-changing nature of search engine algorithms.

“We need to stop pretending SEO is some kind of mysterious black box,” said Gallo. “Yes, Google updates its algorithm often, but the core fundamentals haven’t changed: deliver useful content, earn trust, and meet the user's intent. The rest is execution.”

A 2024 Search Engine Watch survey found that 68% of small business owners feel confused or skeptical about what SEO actually delivers, citing a lack of clear reporting or strategy from providers. Many complain about generic advice, inconsistent deliverables, and results that don’t align with business goals.

“Too many experts are focused on vanity metrics—rankings, impressions, traffic—but those don’t always equal revenue,” Gallo said. “The right SEO strategy depends on the client’s goal. If their goal is leads, we measure leads. If it’s brand visibility, we build authority. It’s not one-size-fits-all.”

He also criticized the industry’s tendency to be vague and defensive when questioned about strategy.

“You often hear, ‘Well, we don’t know what Google’s algorithm is,’ as a way to dodge accountability,” said Gallo. “That’s not good enough. Clients deserve clarity, not excuses.”

Gallo believes the future of SEO lies in three key principles:

  1. Transparency – showing what’s being done and why

  2. Results – tracking outcomes that matter to the client

  3. Education – helping businesses understand the basics so they can ask better questions and make informed decisions

“When you explain things in plain language, people trust you more,” Gallo said. “They stop feeling lost and start seeing progress.”

He’s also encouraging experienced SEO professionals to share their wins, losses, and real-world case studies. According to a BrightLocal report, 57% of small business owners say they’d feel more confident hiring an SEO provider if they could see example campaigns or honest performance summaries.

“It’s not about giving away the secret sauce,” Gallo said. “It’s about raising the standard of the industry. When clients are better educated, we all do better work.”

For SEO Professionals:

  • Stop hiding behind jargon—explain your process

  • Ask clients what their actual goals are and build around those

  • Share your results, even if they’re not perfect

  • Be open about what works and what doesn’t

  • Set clear expectations and tie them to business outcomes

For Business Owners and Clients:

  • Ask for reporting that matches your goals—traffic, leads, sales, etc.

  • Don’t be afraid to ask, “Why are we doing this?”

  • Look for partners who teach you, not confuse you

“If we all bring more honesty into this space, we’ll have more success stories, better businesses, and fewer frustrated clients,” Gallo concluded.
