The Law Offices of Hilda Sibrian Releases Houston Intersection Safety Report Highlighting Rising Injury and Fatal Crash Rates

By: Get News

Houston, TX - November 20, 2025 - The Law Offices of Hilda Sibrian, a leading personal injury firm serving Houston for more than 21 years, has released a report identifying the most dangerous intersections and most congested roadways across the Houston area. Drawing from data published by the City of Houston ARC-GIS, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), the University of Houston, and the Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI), the firm’s research highlights the growing risks local drivers face – particularly in commuter and commercial vehicle corridors.

All Houston Crashes (2024)

According to City of Houston ARC-GIS data, interstate highway deaths along I-45 and I-610 surged by 78% between 2021 and 2023, while pedestrian fatalities rose by 8.2% in the same period. Although commercial vehicle crashes have gradually declined over the past several years, fatalities stemming from these collisions have remained constant. TxDOT’s preliminary 2025 injury summary shows that while total reported crashes decreased by roughly 1% between 2021 and 2024 (from 67,242 to 66,577), total injuries increased by 6.2%, and Houston’s fatal crash count rose to 319 in 2024, the highest in the past decade.

The firm’s analysis also highlights the intersections with the highest crash frequency and injury severity. The most dangerous intersections include:

  • Bissonnet Street and West Sam Houston Parkway (65+)

  • Beechnut Street and West Sam Houston Parkway (30+)

  • Crossview Drive and Richmond Avenue (30+)

  • Katy Freeway and West Grand Parkway (25+)

  • Fondren Road and Westpark Drive (25+)

  • Little York Road and West Hardy Road (25+)

  • North Shepherd Drive and W. Little York Road (25+)

  • Congress Street and Louisiana Street (20+)

  • Clay Road and Greenhouse Road (20+)

  • Main Street and South Braeswood Blvd. (15+)

This data reflects all reported accidents from 2024, is sourced solely from the TxDOT CRIS system, and was evaluated exclusively by the firm’s internal research team.

All Houston Intersections (2024)

Many of these corridors also overlap with the region’s most heavily congested roadways. TTI’s 2024 mobility report found that the average Houston commuter spent 77 hours stuck in traffic last year and wasted 23 gallons of fuel, with major freeways such as IH-45 Northbound experiencing congestion up to 64% of morning drive time. Moreover, US-59 Southwest Inbound reported 100% congestion during peak hours, with average speeds just 11 mph.

This gridlock contributes to higher stress levels, erratic driving, and increased collision risk – especially for commercial vehicles navigating narrow timing windows. These crashes frequently result in severe, life-affecting injuries such as fractures, spinal trauma, internal bleeding, and other catastrophic harm.

Two major ongoing infrastructure projects – the 1-610/1-69 Interchange Improvement Project (TxDOT) and the I-10 West reconstruction and lane closures – are expected to play a key role in reducing the long-term bottlenecks and improving safety for drivers across Houston.

“With rising fatality rates and some intersections showing persistently high crash counts, it’s clear that Houston drivers are facing increasingly dangerous conditions,” said Hilda Sibrian, Founder of The Law Offices of Hilda Sibrian. “Understanding where these risks are concentrated helps residents stay informed and supports our mission to stand up for those whose lives are changed by serious accidents.”
