DLA, LLC is pleased to announce that Thomas J. Keane, CPA, ABV, CFF, CVA, has joined the firm as a Partner within the Forensic, Valuation & Litigation Support Services (FVLS) practice. In this senior leadership role, Thomas will help drive the continued expansion of DLA’s matrimonial litigation support, forensic accounting, valuation, and litigation support services across the firm’s key markets.
Thomas brings more than 25 years of specialized experience to DLA, including extensive work in matrimonial litigation, forensic accounting, business valuation, and complex financial investigations. He most recently served as a Senior Director with the CBIZ Forensic Consulting Group, where he provided comprehensive economic, financial, and accounting expertise to attorneys, frequently advising on high-stakes disputes and supervising teams responsible for delivering detailed valuation analyses and litigation support. His work encompassed matrimonial matters, forensic investigations, operational reviews, and expert advisory services.
Earlier in his career, Thomas spent 12 years with Big Four accounting firms. He began as an auditor within Arthur Andersen’s financial services practice before transitioning into their Litigation Support Practice, which was later acquired by KPMG. At KPMG, he rose to the level of Senior Manager, where he conducted investigations into fraudulent activity and employee misconduct, authored detailed investigative reports outlining control weaknesses, and recommended corrective actions to reduce future risk.
Thomas also held a leadership role as Assistant Controller and Director for a publicly traded cancer diagnostics and research company in New York City. Initially engaged as a consultant to review publicly announced accounting irregularities, he identified multiple instances of fraud committed by senior management, ultimately contributing to the company’s bankruptcy filing. Following the investigation, he joined the company to retrain the accounting staff, streamline operations, and prepare the organization for the sale of its assets.
At DLA, Thomas will play a central role in guiding clients and attorneys through the financial complexities of matrimonial disputes. His responsibilities will include leading valuation and forensic engagements, advising on litigation strategy, offering expert insights into financial and accounting issues, managing engagement teams, and supporting DLA’s efforts to deepen its presence across major markets. He will also contribute to the firm’s growth initiatives by drawing on his longstanding relationships within the legal and financial communities.
Thomas earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the State University of New York at Albany and is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in both New York and New Jersey. He also holds the Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV), Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF), and Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) credentials. Throughout his career, Thomas has been an active presenter and thought leader, delivering seminars and continuing education programs for organizations such as the American Bar Association and, New Jersey Bar Association.
“Thomas’s deep experience in matrimonial litigation, forensic accounting, and valuation brings tremendous strength to our FVLS practice,” said Kevin Baldwin, FVLS Group Leader. “His track record of integrity, technical excellence, and client service aligns perfectly with our commitment to helping clients navigate their most complex challenges. We are thrilled to welcome him to the firm.”
Thomas assumes his new role immediately and will work closely with DLA’s multidisciplinary teams to deliver trusted, high-quality support to clients involved in sensitive and financially significant disputes.
