New Collaboration to Bring Look Good Feel Better Workshops to JCPenney Retail Locations

Nationwide Unveiled During Annual Fundraising Gala in New York City

Look Good Feel Better, the global charitable organization dedicated to serving people in cancer treatment through its groundbreaking workshop program, celebrated 35 years of service at its annual BeautyCares DreamBall Gala at New York’s Gotham Hall last night. The fundraising event honored two-time cancer survivor and program alum Kate Zickel, as well as leaders in the beauty and personal care industries, and included the announcement of a new partnership between Look Good Feel Better and JCPenney.

The annual BeautyCares DreamBall raises funds to support Look Good Feel Better, the program that provides free workshops to help people in cancer treatment and recovery address the physical and appearance related side-effects that often accompany their treatment. In total, last night’s event raised more than $1 million.

Founded in 1989, Look Good Feel Better has served more than 2.2 million cancer patients in 27 countries. This year’s celebration marked the 35the anniversary of the program and recognized beauty and personal care industry leaders, while honoring cancer survivors, program participants and volunteers. This year’s honorees included:

KATE ZICKEL, two-time breast cancer survivor and Look Good Feel Better advocate and volunteer, BeautyCares Survivor Advocate

TARANG AMIN, e.l.f. Beauty Chairman and CEO, BeautyCares Disruptor Award

MICHELLE WLAZLO, JCPenney EVP/Chief Merchandising & Supply Chain Officer, BeautyCares Retail Champion

New Retail Partnership Announced

During her acceptance remarks, JCPenney’s Michelle Wlazlo unveiled a new initiative that will engage and train JCPenney salon professionals as certified Look Good Feel Better workshop facilitators and begin a phased roll out in JCPenney salons around the country to host Look Good Feel Better workshops. Wlazlo also announced that JCPenney will educate consultants in its beauty departments to share information about the Look Good Feel Better program with customers.

“This groundbreaking partnership with Look Good Feel Better will enrich the lives of those with cancer who walk through our doors every day, while offering our employees the opportunity to give back to their communities in a very powerful and meaningful way,” said Wlazlo.

“While we are proud of our 35-year legacy, we are even more excited about the future of Look Good Feel Better,” said Louanne Roark, Executive Director of the Look Good Feel Better Foundation. “With the strength and support of the beauty and personal care products industries behind us, we are pursuing new opportunities to expand the reach and impact of this life-affirming program to more people in more places than ever before.”

The BeautyCares DreamBall was hosted by radio personality Astra from iHeartRadio’s KTU-FM. The program featured musical performances by the Broadway cast of WICKED and multi-platinum recording artist, Loren Allred. The BeautyCares online auction, featuring exclusive designer accessories and jewelry, beauty products, and one-of-a-kind experiences will remain open through October 17.

The BeautyCares DreamBall was followed by the signature DreamBall After Dark, a special after-hours event hosted by BeautyCares NextGen, a committee representing the modern generation of beauty and personal care industry leaders, supporters, and advocates for the Look Good Feel Better program.
