Marquis Who's Who Honors Gabriela Samayoa, MD, MPH, for Expertise in Health Management and Research

UNIONDALE, NY / ACCESS Newswire / March 4, 2026 / Marquis Who's Who honors Gabriela Samayoa, MD, MPH, for expertise in health management and research. Hospitals must balance patient-centered care with data-driven decision-making while adapting to advances in public health. Dr. Samayoa is recognized as a Top Professional for her leadership in clinical management, research and health policy. Her work reflects a commitment to strengthening hospital operations and advancing research initiatives in Honduras.

Clinical Leadership Beyond Traditional Practice

"I could have pursued a career as a cardiologist or anesthesiologist and been happy because I enjoy helping people and seeing patients," Dr. Samayoa says. However, she chose a different path, focusing on health policy and health management. This career focus enables her to make broader, more sustainable changes that impact more lives.

Since 2025, Dr. Samayoa has served as general clinical manager at Hospital del Valle in Honduras. In this role, she oversees pharmacy, laboratory and radiology operations and advises the hospital's research department. Previously, she served as a clinical manager. Her accomplishments included optimizing clinical workflows, improving patient outcomes and promoting collaboration among multidisciplinary teams.

Academic Research and Mentorship

In addition to her hospital leadership, Dr. Samayoa has served as an adviser to the research department at Universidad Católica de Honduras Nuestra Señora Reina de La Paz since 2024. She mentors emerging researchers and contributes to academic initiatives. She also cocreated the university's Research Certificate program and helped launch the institution's Regina Pacis - Sapientia Postgraduate Journal. Additionally, she serves on the publication's editorial staff.

Dr. Samayoa's work in academic research reflects her long-standing interest in public health, clinical and outcomes research. From 2023 to 2024, she was a health economics and outcomes research project manager at Columbia Data Analytics LLC. In that role, she managed complex research projects and delivered analytical insights that informed health policy and clinical practice.

In 2023, Dr. Samayoa served briefly as clinical quality coordinator at New York Medical and Vascular Care. The role required monitoring quality metrics, supporting regulatory compliance and implementing best practices in patient care. From 2020 to 2023, she worked there as a cardiovascular coordinator and medical intern. In that capacity, she had hands-on experience in patient assessment and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Between 2022 and 2023, Dr. Samayoa worked as a healthcare consultant with University Research Co., LLC (URC) under the USAID HEARD Project, supporting the Protecting Children from Violence portfolio. In this role, she provided technical assistance and strategic guidance to strengthen program planning and implementation. This included advising partners on process improvement and operational planning to enhance service delivery and program effectiveness.

Dr. Samayoa's research background includes roles as a research assistant at the CUNY School of Public Health Center for Systems and Community Design and as a clinical research assistant at the anesthesia department at Montefiore Health System in the Bronx. During her time at those institutions, she contributed to clinical and community-based studies.

Academic Excellence Across Global Institutions

Dr. Samayoa has received several honors throughout her career. Among her most notable professional achievements is receiving the Best General Poster Research Presentation Award at ISPOR Europe in 2024. It is an honor that recognizes her expertise in health economics and outcomes research. It also acknowledges her commitment to advancing evidence-based medicine.

In 2022, Dr. Samayoa earned a Master of Public Health from the CUNY Graduate School of Public Health and Health Policy. Eight years earlier, she earned a Doctor of Medicine degree from Universidad de Ciencias Médicas. Her academic achievements are supplemented by numerous industry credentials. Additionally, she is a member of the American Physicians Association.

Service Through Public Health

"I want people to know there's always an opportunity to grow," Dr. Samayoa says. "I come from Honduras-a country with limited resources-and I've still been able to build a path forward." She also wants people who studied medicine but chose not to pursue a specialty to know there are many meaningful ways to practice and serve. "You can improve health through policy and leadership, manage hospitals or clinics, or contribute through research-helping generate evidence that guides clinicians and strengthens decision-making," she says.

Dr. Samayoa credits her success to a supportive family and close friends throughout her life. Their encouragement has fueled her commitment to service, leadership, and lifelong learning. Her civic involvement includes participation in a toy drive in Honduras and past fundraising efforts for the National Hospital of Geriatrics and Gerontology in Costa Rica. She has volunteered as a public health speaker and participated in housing construction projects for underserved communities.

Over the next five years, Dr. Samayoa plans to pursue an additional master's degree, expand her advocacy for evidence-based decision-making in healthcare and continue advancing research initiatives. In parallel, she is helping strengthen and formalize research and medical departments in Honduras, building the structures needed to support high-quality, sustainable programs.

As the medical research community increasingly adopts holistic approaches and leverages real-world data, Dr. Samayoa's combined expertise in clinical management and public health, along with her experience strengthening health systems, positions her to contribute meaningfully to improvements in patient care and research.
