NATIONAL COACH OF THE YEAR JEREMY WILLIAMS' INSPIRING ALS STORY COMES TO THE BIG SCREEN

Williams Family Partners with Faith-Based Production Company to Develop Feature Film About Coach Who Led Undefeated Season While Battling Terminal Disease

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA, March 18, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- In 2009, a small-town Georgia football coach battling ALS led his underdog high school team to an undefeated regular season for miracles — coaching from a wheelchair as his voice grew weak but his faith never wavered. Now, that extraordinary story of perseverance is coming to theaters nationwide.

The Williams family has partnered with Executive Producer Steven Camp and Producer Dan Merrell to develop a faith-based feature film inspired by the life and legacy of Coach Jeremy Williams. The team will also collaborate with Co-Executive Producer Andy Robinson, a longtime family friend who has shared Jeremy's message across Georgia and beyond through motivational speaking engagements and promotion of the Williams book Tenacious.

The project, under the banner of We Do What We Do, LLC, will bring Jeremy's remarkable journey to the big screen for the first time as a full-length theatrical release. The company's name comes directly from Jeremy himself. On the day he received his final ALS diagnosis, he turned to his wife Jennifer and said: "We are going to take one day to cry, and then we are going to do what we do." Those words became the family's foundation and now serve as the banner under which this story will be told.

Jeremy Williams was diagnosed with ALS in 2007 but continued coaching at Greenville High School as the disease progressed. During the 2009 season, he led his team from the sidelines — first with a cane, then from a wheelchair, and finally with a voice that grew faint but never failed. His players rallied around their coach, and against all odds, the Patriots went undefeated in the regular season and reached the state playoffs.

Williams' courage and leadership during that thrilling historic season earned him national recognition as the 2010 National High School Football Coach of the Year by the National High School Coaches Association. The NHSCA boasts a membership of 400,000 coaches and administrators in all sports across the United States. Coaches throughout America are praising the story. The remarkable story also garnered significant media attention, with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution readers voting it the 2009 AJC Sports Story of The Year.

The Williams family's story reached millions more through their appearance on ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, which became one of the series' most-watched episodes. Jeremy continued to inspire through his writing, co-authoring the book Tenacious before his passing in 2022. Jennifer, Josie, and Jacob continued to tell the story working with Merrell on the 40-Day Devotional "Tenacious Every Day".

"The Williams family is excited to be part of such a grand cinematic vision for our movie, and thrilled by this team's Christ-centric approach," said Jennifer Williams. "May God be glorified through the efforts of this story as we point the lost to the saving grace only found in Jesus and encourage fellow believers in their walk with Christ."

Dan Merrell and his Missionary Kid Media team of writers will develop the screenplay working together with Jennifer, Josie, and Jacob Williams to ensure authenticity throughout the process. The film will take audiences beyond Jeremy's accomplishments as a coach to experience his true impact as a husband, father, and follower of Christ. When asked what he wanted people to take from his story, Jeremy said simply: "God is sufficient, even in our suffering."

Production is currently in development to be filmed in Columbus Ga, with plans to bring the film to theaters nationwide in Fall 2027.

"This story is not about me, it's about Jesus."
