CMS Energy Corporations (CMS Energy) Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Tom
Webb, will provide a company overview at the Deutsche Bank 2009 Energy, Utilities and Power
Conference, May 27, 2009. The presentation is scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m. EDT. A webcast of
the presentation will be available at the CMS Energy website, www.cmsenergy.com. A copy of
the CMS Energy presentation is furnished as Exhibit 99.1 to this report. There has been an update
to the CMS Energy presentation: Consumers Energy Company filed a natural gas rate case with the
Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) on May 22, 2009, MPSC Case No. U-15986.
