On July 25, 2006, Sterling Financial Corporation (“Sterling”) issued a press release
announcing a quarterly cash dividend of $0.07 per share of common stock payable to shareholders of
record as of September 29, 2006. The dividend is expected to be paid on October 13, 2006. The
text of the press release is attached as Exhibit 99.1 to this report and incorporated by reference
herein.
