Company Press Release --------------------- Bonan Fields Commence Production (Hong Kong, November 12, 2004) - CNOOC Limited (together with its subsidiaries, the "Company", NYSE: CEO, SEHK: 0883) announced today that Bonan Fields have come on stream successfully, producing about 4,200 barrels of oil and 1.4 million cubic feet of gas per day from Bozhong 28-1 and Bozhong 26-2. Bonan Fields are located in the southern part of Bohai Bay with a water depth of 22 meters and are 100 kilometers from Longkou City. Major production facilities include a single point mooring system (SPM), a floating production, storage and offloading facility (FPSO), two wellhead platforms, an onshore terminal and subsea pipelines. The Company is the operator with a 100% interest in the project.
