Galligan Phone: 816/983-1551 william.h.galligan@kcsr.com KCS Announces Exercise of Initial Purchasers' Option Kansas City Southern (KCS) (NYSE: KSU) announced today that the initial purchasers of its $175 million offering of Redeemable Cumulative Convertible Perpetual Preferred Stock have exercised their option to purchase an additional $25 million of the preferred stock. The terms of the private offering were announced on April 30, 2003. KCS anticipates closing on the entire $200 million transaction by the end of the day, May 5, 2003. The preferred stock, and the common stock to be issued on the conversion of the preferred stock, have not been registered under the Securities Act of 1933, as amended, and may not be offered or sold in the United States absent registration or an applicable exemption from registration requirements.
