Item 8.01 Other Events.
 
On September 29, 2010, Keryx Biopharmaceuticals, Inc. (“Keryx”) issued a press release announcing the initiation of the long-term Phase 3 study of Zerenex™ (ferric citrate), Keryx’s iron-based phosphate binder for the treatment of elevated serum phosphorous levels, or hyperphosphatemia, in patients with end-stage renal disease on dialysis.  A copy of the press release is being furnished as Exhibit 99.1 to this report.
